
Kenya Strategy meeting: Experts Meet to prepare the Country position ahead of the 62nd Panel Session of the IPCC
The pre-P62 strategy meeting organized by the Kenyan Government and the AGNES is set to happen on
10th & 11th February 2025 to prepare an evidence-based position for the country ahead of the 62nd session of the IPCC Panel. The P62 session set to happen in Hangzhou, China, from
24th to 28th February 2025 will see six delegates from Kenya actively advocating for the country’s priorities and concerns. During this session, the Panel will deliberate on key issues, including the
outline of the IPCC Seventh Assessment Report, the
Methodology Report on Carbon Dioxide Removal Technologies, and
Carbon Capture Utilization and Storage, alongside discussions on the
IPCC Trust Fund Programme and Budget. In preparation for this China session, the outlines for the three IPCC Working Group reports were developed by selected experts in
December 2024 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and are now open for review and interrogation by participating countries before the final approval. Therefore, part of the activities in the pre-P62 strategy meeting will be to review the outlines for the 3 main reports and the 2 methodology reports.
Objectives of the Pre-P62 Strategy
- To review the outlines for the 3 main reports and the 2 methodology reports.
- To identify red lines and key priorities areas as well as additional bullets for the various chapters in the outlines
- To review the proposal for an expert meeting on the Methodologies, Metrics and Indicators for Assessing Climate Change Impacts and Adaptation

Expected Pre-P62 Participants
Experts and practitioners from the Physical Science Basis (WG1), Impacts, Adaptation, and Vulnerability (WG2), and Mitigation of Climate Change (WG2) from across different organization like
KMD, AGNES, UON, CCD,
NEMA, NDC-P, ICPAC,
ILRI ,
CARE, Climate analytics, among others, will be participating in the meeting.
