In this digital era, Artificial intelligence (AI) is growing at an unprecedented pace, transforming workspaces and industries. In similar perspectives, climate change has become a pressing challenge to the globe calling for smart and innovative solutions. Recognizing the potential of artificial intelligence to accelerate climate action, the AGNES, in bid to support the African Group of Negotiators (AGN), launched the Climate Change AI in 2024. The aim is to provide real time AI-powered scientific evidence-based content and revolutionize negotiations for African stakeholders.

About the Climate Change AI

The AGNES Climate Change AI is a tool that offers real-time analysis and summaries of UNFCCC decision documents in agriculture and climate Finance negotiation workstreams. The tool scans through information from the UNFCCC website, to respond with reliable information. During negotiations, the tool saves Negotiators time by providing summaries of climate policies, scientific reports and updated decisions and agreement. This ultimately strengthens the capacity of negotiators to advocate for common Africa’s position during negotiations.

Who can access the tool?

The tool is currently accessible to anyone who wants to learn about different UNFCCC decisions, agreements and decision texts, including advocates and negotiators.

How different is the AI from other Large Language Models?

The advantage of the AGNES climate change AI is that it provides credible information from UNFCCC website making it more reliable in verifying updates and progress on climate negotiations. The model offers links to the web pages in the UNFCCC website with appropriate responses that can be easily confirmed. Secondly, the model is context-specific because it is designed to process climate change policies, UFCCC documents, and historical data.

Conclusion

The LLM tool comes in handy to fasten the access to and summaries of decision documents during negotiations
