Research Associate - Adaptation
Petronila Adhiambo is an Early Career Professional in Environment and Climate Change with expertise in Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), environmental auditing, and climate action advocacy. She is currently pursuing an MSc in Climate Change Adaptation at the University of Nairobi, focusing her research on energy poverty and climate adaptation. Petronila has served in various capacities, including as a Research Associate and Early Career Climate Fellow at the Africa Group of Negotiators Experts Support (AGNES), where she champions evidence-based adaptation practices and engages in global climate negotiations, particularly the Global Goal on Adaptation (GGA). Her professional experience includes roles as an Environment Assistant at the Kenya National Environment Tribunal (NET), a Technical Assistant on the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) Study for the Proposed 140 MW Olkaria II Extension Geothermal Power Plant, and a Sauti Kenya Fellow on Climate Change Advocacy under a flagship project of the US Embassy in Kenya. She also holds a Certificate in Integrated Environmental Impact Assessment and Audit Training from AWEMAC and a Bachelor of Environmental Science from Machakos University.
