Dr. Yitayal Addis Alemayehu
Dr. Yitayal Addis Alemayehu is an incisive assistant professor of Environmental science with hands – on experience in competency based instruction, waste management, circular economy (waste to energy and /or fertilizer recovery), climate science, community engagement and advocacy. He has a B.Ed. in chemistry from Jimma University, M.Sc. and PhD in Environmental science, from Addis Ababa University. Currently, he is an academic staff member in Kotebe University of Education, and managing editor of Kotebe Journal of Education. In addition, he is a volunteer for several NGOs, and the National Project Director for the Ethiopian Environmental Health and Natural Resource Security Association (a civil society organization). He has educated hundreds of students on Environmental pollution control, waste management, biotechnology, energy and Climate Change, disaster risk management, environmental sustainability and the SDGs.
Dr. Yitayal Addis Alemayehu is the Team Leader for the Environmental education research project, a thematic research in Kotebe University of Education; transport and construction development and environmental impact assessment project (Addis Ababa, Ethiopia); and Macadamia nut plantation project (Gambella, Ethiopia). A Climate and gender sensitive Leader trained by the Oxford school of climate and AGNES climate leadership program. He is a passionate advocate for waste management, circular economy (nature based solutions) and environmental sustainability.
