Chisomo Mukumbwa
Chisomo Mukumbwa is an environmentalist with expertise in environmental conservation, climate change advocacy, climate-smart agriculture, and biodiversity conservation. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Horticulture from Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (LUANAR) and is finalizing her Master of Science in Environmental Sciences at the University of Malawi. With over eight years of experience working on donor-funded projects, Chisomo has made significant contributions to the agriculture and environmental sectors. Notably, through her involvement in the WASH and Environmental Governance project, she played a critical role in budget tracking for WASH and Environmental initiatives, strengthening the WASH and Environmental system at the district level, involved in the development of the District Strategic Implementation Plan (DSIP) while she also advocates for improved WASH and environmental policies. Chisomo has led community-based initiatives, educating hundreds of people on climate change, environmental sustainability, and biodiversity restoration. She has been instrumental in establishing village forests and overseeing the planting of approximately 5,000 trees in key catchment areas
Chisomo is a collaborative team player, with expertise in project management, climate change advocacy, budget tracking, stakeholder mapping, and conducting Environmental Impact Assessments. She is also an experienced trainer, equipping communities with sustainable practices that enhance environmental conservation and resilience.
