Carolyn Munyua
Carolyn Munyua is a highly experienced Social Inclusion Specialist with a strong background in Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI). She holds a Master of Education and a Bachelor of Education from Kenyatta University, along with an International Diploma in Project Management and Leadership from Cambridge International College. Additionally, she has received advanced training in Indigenous Peoples’ Rights in Africa from the University of Pretoria, South Africa, and is a key advocate for REDD+ (Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation) initiatives in developing countries.
As the Head of the Division for Minority and Marginalized Communities at the National Gender and Equality Commission (NGEC), Carolyn has been instrumental in advocating for the rights of marginalized groups in Kenya. She has led the development of the Scoping Review report on a National Inclusive Development Framework for Marginalized Communities, supported by the World Bank Group, and has represented NGEC at numerous high-level forums focused on Indigenous Peoples’ issues.
Prior to her role at NGEC, Carolyn served as a Disability Coordinator in the education sector, where she facilitated strategic planning workshops and educational conferences. She is also an associate member of the Kenya Institute of Management, actively participating in leadership and management conferences regionally.
