AWANTU CHRISTIAN FUNWI
Awantu is a Scientific Researcher at the Ministry of Scientific Research and Innovation, specialized in Climate-smart Animal Production in the national Institute of Agricultural Research for Development (IRAD). He holds a BSc in Zoology and an MSc in Biotechnology and Animal Production. He has volunteered with several national and international NGOs hitherto, one of which is Greenpeace Africa – Cameroon, where as the lead Climate Justice Trainer, he has trained over 300 youths on environmental protection, climate justice, climate adaptation/advocacy, waste management, among others.
He is the pioneer Executive Coordinator of the “Youth Network for Climate Action” (YONECA), the Founding Director of “Linking Entrepreneurship with Sustainable Development and Environmental Protection” (LESDEV) organization, and the Country Director of DeWise Foundation engaged in empowering youths, displaced persons and refugees with income generation skills, and in clean energy technologies. Also, he is the current national Project Coordinator of the International Organization for Animal Protection (OIPA – Cameroon) and has since 2014 remained a fervent and obstinate climate advocate both offline and online.
