CALL FOR LISTING ON THE DATABASE OF AFRICAN EXPERTS IN METHANE

  1. BACKGROUND

Methane is a potent greenhouse gas, with a global warming potential approximately 85 times greater than carbon dioxide. Although it generally remains in the atmosphere for a shorter duration than carbon dioxide, its immediate impact on global warming is more intense than carbon dioxide. In Africa, methane emissions are mainly from livestock, rice plantations and garbage landfills.

Due to the limited number of experts in methane emissions field, the African Group of Negotiators Experts Support (AGNES) is inviting experts in methane emissions and related fields from the five sub regions of Africa (North, West, Central, Eastern and Southern Africa) to express an interest in being listed in a database of Africa’s climate change experts.
