George Akoko
George Akoko is an agricultural and environmental engineer with extensive expertise in integrated and sustainable land and water management in agriculture. He holds a B.Sc. in Environmental and Biosystems Engineering from the University of Nairobi, Kenya, as well as an M.Sc. in Agriculture and a Ph.D. in Agriculture and Environmental Engineering from Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology, Japan. Dr. Akoko is an astute natural resources management professional whose responsibilities include project technical and operational implementation for several initiatives in Africa, Middle East and the Caribbean., where he supports implementation of projects focusing on inclusive, resilient and sustainable agrifood systems for better production, better nutrition, a better environment, and a better life. He has volunteered for several initiatives including serving as an expert reviewer and mentor for the FAO World Food Forum’s Transformative Research Challenge. He is an ardent advocate for the SDGs and currently works as a water management consultant at FAO.
