SUMMARY:Strengthening Capacities to Access Climate Adaptation Finance for Climate-Resilient Livestock Production Systems in Zambia
DESCRIPTION:Successful Breakfast Meeting on Climate-Resilient Livestock Systems in Zambia 🐄\nWe’re excited to share the success of the Breakfast Meeting on Investment Opportunities for Climate-Resilient Livestock Systems in Zambia! The meeting provided a valuable space for engagement with the private sector on investment opportunities and barriers limiting growth in Zambia’s livestock systems.\nThe objective of the meeting was clear: to explore how the private sector can contribute to overcoming the challenges faced by Zambia’s livestock sector and help unlock opportunities for growth and resilience.\nKey Highlights:\n✅ Public-Private Partnerships: The Permanent Secretary\, Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock\, emphasized that addressing the impacts of climate change — such as droughts\, floods\, and heat stress — requires collective efforts from both the public and private sectors.\n✅ Investment Opportunities: We explored ways to expand infrastructure and invest in climate-smart technologies to strengthen Zambia’s livestock value chain.\n✅ Livestock Insurance: A crucial topic discussed was the need for livestock insurance as a safeguard for smallholder farmers\, providing financial protection against climate-induced risks.\n✅ Actionable Next Steps: Provided valuable insights on the barriers to investment and strategies to drive sector transformation.\nThe meeting set the stage for continued collaboration to build a more sustainable\, resilient livestock sector in Zambia. We look forward to turning the discussions into concrete actions that will drive growth and improve food security for Zambia’s smallholder farmers.
